Brand Identity2021

Hype Hour

A podcast identity developed from concept to launch, covering naming, logo system, typography, colour palette, guidelines and initial Instagram presence.

The project

Hype Hour was conceived as a podcast brand centred around conversations and personal stories.

I worked on the identity from an early stage, including discussions around the name and tagline before developing the visual direction for the brand.

The final mark combines three ideas directly connected to the format: headphones, a speech bubble and an audio waveform. The supporting identity used a restrained black, white and gold palette, with typography designed to give the podcast a distinctive, recognizable presence across digital applications.

Beyond the core logo, I developed the icon mark, colour palette, typography system and basic brand guidelines so the identity could be applied consistently. I also created and launched the initial Instagram profile for the brand.

The podcast itself did not develop into a long-term successful venture, so I would not attach growth or audience claims to the project. I keep the work in my portfolio because it demonstrates a complete branding exercise—from concept and naming discussions through to a usable identity and initial digital launch.

That last paragraph is more transparent than most portfolio copy, although on the actual website I would probably omit the sentence about the podcast not succeeding. There is no need to volunteer irrelevant negative business context. Just don't claim success.

My role

Brand concept, naming and tagline development, logo design, visual identity, brand guidelines and Instagram setup.
